In addition to developing and distributing our own film productions, GroundSpark produces videos for public-interest organizations with which we share a political vision.
The 1991 Academy Award® -winning film Deadly Deception was a collaboration with Corporate Accountability International (formerly Infact). Using intensely moving personal testimonials and an extraordinary assemblage of evidence, Deadly Deception illustrates General Electric's irresponsible nuclear operations that included poisoning workers, releasing large amounts of radiation into the atmosphere, and numerous deaths, birth defects and other environmental disasters.
Corporate Accountability International used Deadly Deception to motivate thousands of individuals and organizations to join an international boycott against GE. One year after the film's release, General Electric finally stopped its nuclear materials production.
"GroundSpark took our initial vision and worked tirelessly with us to produce a revealing, moving document that put into human terms the suffering caused by GE. Deadly Deception's intensely personal nature, in combination with hard hitting factual reporting, makes it an invaluable tool in classrooms and conferences around the world."
--Kathryn Mulvey, executive director, Corporate Accountability International
Homes & Hands was produced in conjunction with the Institute for Community Economics, the originator of the widespread Community Land Trust model of affordable housing. By visiting communities using Community Land Trusts to help home buyers overcome an increasingly discriminating and competitive real estate market, Homes & Hands depicts the highly acclaimed model of Community Land Trusts and how it can be applied to build new housing or revitalize blighted communities.
